Differentiation between nerve and adipose tissue using wide‐band spectroscopy reflectance spectroscopy we have identified that InGaAs sensors are better suited for automated discrimination between nerves and surrounding adipose tissue than Si sensors. This underlines the importance of extending the wavelength region beyond the detection boundary of silicon cameras for automated classification of nerve tissue in adipose surroundings. Hyperspectral camera technology covering both Si and InGaAs sensor response ranges could offer even greater possibilities for automated tissue differentiation. 141
