The report of the outpatient visits was missing in 43 patients. In those patients the clinical follow-up was obtained by structured telephone interviews, and by information provided by the general practitioner. Patients with a clinical follow-up period of less than one year were considered to be lost to follow-up. The clinical outcome was determined according to the following modified Rankin scale (mRS) criteria:13 0 = no symptoms, 1 = no significant disability, despite symptoms, 2 = slight disability, 3 = moderate
