Propositions accompanying the thesis Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage 1. CEMRA en CTA have equal diagnostic performance characteristics in patients with a subarachnoid hemorrhage (this thesis) 2. CTA is the most efficient diagnostic modality in patients with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, but needs to be followed by diagnostic DSA if no aneurysm is found or if an aneurysm is deemed not suitable for endovascular coiling (this thesis) 3. Long term follow up of adequately coiled aneurysms has a low yield and should not be performed as a standard procedure (this thesis) 4. In a ‘low-‐volume’ neuro-‐interventional center good results in patient care can be achieved if a multidisciplinary approach of neuro-‐inteventionists, neurolosurgeons and neurologists is implemented (this thesis) 5. Centralisation of neuro-‐interventions is preferred and needs to be pursued 6. Lumbar puncture can be avoided if all patients suspected of having suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage undergo CT and CTA 7. In patients with acute ischemic stroke time of treatment probably has a bigger influence on outcome than mode of treatment 8. A true ‘believer’ cannot be a good scientist 9. One cannot have an idea about the future if one has no clue about history (Maarten van Rossem, historian) 10. Travelling one mile is better than reading a thousand books (Confucius) 11. Principles are an excuse for not thinking
